What is Free Cash Flow?
Free cash flow is the cash a company generates after paying for the investments needed to maintain and grow its business, commonly operating cash flow minus capital expenditures.
Why it matters
It is the money left to pay dividends, buy back shares, reduce debt or reinvest, so many investors treat it as a purer measure of profitability than earnings.
