Investz.com (“Investz,” “we,” “us”) is built to be used without an account and without handing over personal details. This policy explains what limited information is handled when you visit, what stays only in your own browser, and which third parties are involved.
1. Summary
- You do not need an account, and we do not ask you to enter your name, email or payment details to use the site.
- Your watchlist and portfolio entries are saved in your own browser and are not sent to our servers.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We measure visits with a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool (Umami). It sets no cookies, does not follow you across sites, stores no full IP address, and respects your browser’s Do Not Track setting.
- Some embedded content (charts, calendars) and outbound links (such as Amazon) come from third parties with their own privacy practices.
2. Information we handle
Information you choose to give us
If you email us at hello@investz.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. If you use the contact form on our Contact page, we receive the name, email address, topic and message you type. The form sends them to us by email through Resend, an email delivery service that processes the message on our behalf under its own privacy terms. We use the information only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation, and we do not add you to a mailing list. The form also checks the number of recent submissions from your connection to stop spam, using your IP address held briefly in server memory, not in a database.
Technical information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers and hosting infrastructure record standard technical logs when you request a page, such as your IP address, date and time, pages and files requested, referring page, browser and device type (user agent), and response status. We use these logs to operate the site, keep it secure, diagnose errors, detect abuse and understand overall usage. Logs are kept only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes and are then rotated or deleted.
Privacy-friendly usage statistics
To learn which pages are useful, we run Umami, an open-source analytics tool that we host ourselves on our own server at stats.investz.com. Your visit data is not sent to Google or any other analytics company. When you load a page, a small script sends us: the page address, the referring site, your browser and operating system, device type, screen size, language, and an approximate country derived from your IP address. Your IP address is used only for that lookup and is not stored. Umami does not set cookies and does not write anything to your browser’s storage. To count unique visitors without cookies, it creates a one-way hashed identifier from your IP address and browser details combined with a salt that changes regularly, so it cannot be turned back into your IP address or used to recognize you across days or other websites. We do not use this data to build profiles of individuals, we do not combine it with other data, and we do not share it with advertisers. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, the script does not send anything. We do not currently run custom events that record what you type, and the watchlist and portfolio entries described below are never sent to analytics.
Information stored in your browser
The watchlist and portfolio tools save your entries (for example tickers, share counts and cost basis) in your browser’s local storage under keys such as investz:watchlist and investz:portfolio. This information stays on your device. We cannot see it, and it is not synced between devices. Clearing your browser data removes it. Because it is not stored on our servers, we cannot recover it for you.
What we do not collect
We do not knowingly collect government identifiers, financial account numbers, precise location, or other sensitive personal information. Please do not email us that kind of information.
3. How we use information
- To provide, maintain and secure the website and its tools.
- To respond to your messages and requests, including contact form submissions.
- To detect, prevent and investigate abuse, automated scraping, fraud and security incidents.
- To measure performance, understand in aggregate which pages and features are used, and fix problems (using the cookieless, self-hosted analytics described above).
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
If we introduce advertising, additional analytics or other tracking technologies in future, we will update this policy first and, where required, ask for your consent.
5. Third parties and service providers
Market data providers
Quotes, charts and calendar data are requested from third-party data providers by our servers, not by your browser, so your IP address and browsing details are not sent to those providers as part of loading that data.
Email delivery (Resend)
Contact form messages are delivered to us through Resend. Resend receives the form contents (name, email address, topic and message) in order to send the email to us, and handles them under its own privacy policy.
TradingView
Some pages embed charts and widgets from TradingView. When a page with an embed loads, your browser connects directly to TradingView, which may receive your IP address and device information and may set cookies. See TradingView’s own privacy policy for details.
News publishers
Headlines come from public feeds of publishers such as CNBC, MarketWatch and Yahoo Finance. Clicking a headline takes you to the publisher’s site, which has its own privacy practices.
Amazon and affiliate links
Book links on Investz are affiliate links to Amazon. If you click one, Amazon may use cookies to record that you came from Investz, and it handles your browsing and purchase data under its own privacy notice. We do not receive your Amazon account or order details; we are told only about qualifying purchases in aggregate for commission purposes. See our Disclosures.
Podcast services
Podcast pages link out to search results on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music. Those services have their own privacy practices once you leave Investz.
Hosting and infrastructure
The site runs on hosting and network infrastructure operated by service providers who process technical data on our behalf in order to deliver the site.
Legal and safety disclosures
We may disclose information if required by law or legal process, or when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Investz, our users or others. If the business were ever sold or reorganized, information handled by the site could be transferred to the successor, subject to this policy.
6. No sale or sharing of personal information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used in laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA). We have not done so in the past 12 months.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example California and several other US states, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom), you may have rights to ask what personal information we hold about you, to request access, correction or deletion, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Because we hold very little personal information (mainly server logs and any emails you send us), most requests are quick to answer. To make a request, email hello@investz.com from the address you want us to look up. We may need to verify your request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are in the EEA or UK and are unhappy with our response, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
For information stored in your browser, you can view or delete it yourself at any time through your browser’s developer tools or by clearing site data.
8. Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in running and securing a website (for server logs and cookieless, self-hosted usage statistics, which are aggregate and low-impact and which you can avoid by enabling Do Not Track), on performance of a request you make (when you email us or use the contact form), and on consent where required (for example, if we add optional cookies or advertising later).
9. Retention and security
Analytics records are kept on our own server for up to 24 months and then deleted. We keep server logs only for as long as needed for security and troubleshooting and then delete or rotate them. Emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and for ordinary record-keeping, then deleted. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted server access and keeping credentials out of source code. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International transfers
Investz is operated from the United States, and our servers and service providers may be located in the United States or other countries. If you visit from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from yours.
11. Children’s privacy
Investz is intended for a general audience of adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Links to other sites
Investz links to external websites that we do not control. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
13. No financial advice
Information you view or enter on Investz (including hypothetical portfolio entries) is not financial advice and does not create a client relationship. See our Terms of Use and Disclosures.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a material change, we will post the updated policy on this page, and where required we will give additional notice.
