This page explains how Investz makes money, where its information comes from, and what it is not. Short version: Investz earns affiliate commissions on qualifying Amazon purchases, shows market data from third parties that may be delayed, and offers information for education only, not advice.
1. Affiliate disclosure
Investz is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, Investz earns from qualifying purchases.
Book and audiobook links on Investz (on the Books and Audio pages, book detail pages, reading paths, and book recommendations elsewhere on the Site) are affiliate links. This includes links that open Audible listings on Amazon. If you click one and buy something on Amazon, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. In line with US Federal Trade Commission guidance, we mark these links with the sponsored attribute and disclose them here and near the links.
We may add other affiliate or advertising relationships in future. If we do, we will update this page and disclose them where they appear.
2. Editorial independence
Affiliate relationships do not influence market data, news, calendars or tools, which are generated automatically from third-party sources. Book selections are chosen because we believe they are useful to people learning about investing and money, and they are not paid placements. Commission rates do not determine what is listed or how it is described. That said, we do earn money when you buy through our links, so you should weigh our recommendations with that in mind.
Book descriptions on Investz are our own summaries, not publishers’ text or reviews, and are not a substitute for reading the book or sample on the retailer’s page. Amazon prices, editions, formats and availability change frequently, so we do not show prices. Check the Amazon listing for current details.
3. Investment disclaimer
Investz is an information and education website. Nothing on it is investment, tax, legal or accounting advice, a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security or crypto-asset, or an offer or solicitation of any kind. Investz is not a broker-dealer or registered investment adviser, and you should not treat anything here as personalized advice.
All investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Past performance is not indicative of future results. Securities mentioned or displayed (for example in movers lists, screeners or watchlists) appear because of automated rules such as price change or market-capitalization lists, not because we recommend them. Individual investors have different objectives, time horizons and risk tolerances; consider speaking with a qualified, licensed professional before you invest.
The people who operate Investz may own, buy or sell securities, funds or crypto-assets that are mentioned or displayed on the Site, and may do so before or after content is published. We are under no obligation to disclose individual positions or changes to them.
4. Market data disclaimer
- Delayed or cached. Data is cached to keep the Site fast and to stay within provider limits. Quotes can lag by several minutes during market hours and longer when markets are closed. Data may be delayed, incomplete or wrong. It is not suitable for trading decisions that depend on real-time prices.
- Index and commodity proxies. Where an index or futures price is not available from our data plans, we display a related ETF (for example SPY for the S&P 500, DIA for the Dow, QQQ for the Nasdaq-100, GLD for gold and USO for oil). The label shows which instrument is used. ETF prices can differ from the underlying index or commodity.
- Investz Market Mood. The home-page gauge averages up to six indicators, each scored 0 to 100: (1) momentum, the S&P 500 (via SPY) versus its 125-day average; (2) strength, where tracked large-cap stocks sit within their 52-week ranges; (3) breadth, the share of those stocks up today; (4) volatility, recent S&P 500 daily swings versus the past year; (5) safe-haven demand, stocks versus long Treasury bonds (TLT) over 20 days; and (6) junk-bond demand, high-yield (HYG) versus investment-grade (LQD) bonds over 20 days. It is our own simple calculation from data available to us, not a copy of or affiliated with any other published sentiment or “fear and greed” index (other indexes use different inputs, such as options and VIX data, so readings will differ), and it does not predict market direction.
- Earnings and economic events. Report dates, times, estimates and results are supplied by third parties and can change without notice.
- No warranty. We make no warranty as to accuracy, completeness or timeliness. See our Terms of Use.
5. Data sources and attribution
Investz relies on the following services. All trademarks belong to their owners, and their appearance here does not imply endorsement of Investz.
- Finnhub: Primary source for stock and ETF quotes, 52-week ranges and the earnings calendar.
- Twelve Data: Historical and intraday price series for charts, and a fallback source for quotes.
- Yahoo Finance: Backup quote source if the primary providers are unavailable; news headlines via public RSS feeds.
- CNBC, MarketWatch: News headlines from public RSS feeds, linking to the original articles.
- TradingView: Embedded advanced charts and the economic calendar widget.
- Amazon and Audible: Book and audiobook links through the Amazon Associates Program.
- Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music: Search links for podcast recommendations.
6. Third-party content and links
Headlines, short summaries and embedded widgets belong to their publishers and providers. Story pages on Investz show only the headline and the summary supplied in the publisher’s public news feed, with attribution and a link to the full article, and are excluded from search indexing. We do not control, verify or endorse that content, and clicking through leaves Investz. Third-party sites have their own terms and privacy policies.
7. Podcasts
Podcast recommendations on Investz are editorial picks. We are not paid to list them, and the links to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music searches are plain links, not affiliate links, and we earn nothing if you listen. Shows are produced by third parties whose views are their own and are not investment advice, and hosts, formats and availability change over time.
8. Sponsored content and advertising
Investz does not currently run paid sponsored posts or display advertising. If that changes, sponsored content will be clearly labeled.
9. Corrections and feedback
If you spot an error, a broken link or a data problem, please tell us at hello@investz.com. We review reports and fix issues where we can.
