Investz publishes plain-English investing education and market tools. Because the topic involves your money, this page explains how the content is made, where the facts come from, and what we do when we get something wrong. Investz is for education only and is not investment, tax or legal advice.
1. Who writes Investz
The guides, glossary entries and book summaries are written and maintained by the people who run Investz (online since 1999). We are not a broker-dealer, a registered investment adviser, a tax professional or a law firm, and nothing here should be read as personalized advice. See the disclosures for the full statement.
2. Use of AI tools
We use AI tools to help draft and edit some content. Every guide is reviewed by a person against the official sources listed on the page before it is published, and market data is generated automatically from third-party providers.
3. How we source facts
Definitions, rules and figures in the guides are checked against primary and official sources: the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (including Investor.gov), FINRA, the IRS and the Federal Reserve. Each guide lists the sources it relies on under “Sources and further reading.” Sector definitions come from the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS), which MSCI and S&P Dow Jones Indices publish. Where a guide has no source list, no suitable official source was found, and the guide is not a claim of authority.
Worked examples use round, made-up numbers to show how a calculation works. They are illustrations, not market data and not forecasts.
4. Review dates and updates
Every guide shows a “Last reviewed” date. We change that date only when a person has re-read the guide and re-checked it against its sources, not when we fix a typo or adjust the layout. Rules that change often (tax limits, contribution caps, fee schedules) should always be confirmed with the official source linked in the guide.
5. Market data and the Market Mood
Quotes, charts, calendars and the sector tables are produced automatically from third-party data providers and may be delayed or wrong. They are not edited by hand. The Investz Market Mood is our own calculation; its method, limits and thresholds are published in full. See also the market data disclaimer.
6. Affiliate links and independence
Investz earns commissions on qualifying Amazon purchases made through book and audiobook links. Those links are marked and disclosed. Commissions do not influence the market data, the guides or which investing topics we cover, and no company pays to be featured. Details are on the disclosures page.
7. Corrections
If you find an error, a broken source link or something unclear, please tell us through the contact form or at hello@investz.com. We correct factual errors as soon as we can verify them and update the review date of the affected guide.
